Measuring your filter and/or filter space
NOTE: For many years, (and the 30,000 furnace installations we have done,) we have been installing most of our filters in the return air filter drop alongside the furnace in order for our clients to be able to easily maintain their filter changes.
- Grab a measuring tape, piece of paper, and something with which to write.
- Go to your furnace/mechanical room location (normally in the basement area).
- Look for the return air filter drop/duct. (It typically is the duct that “drops” down alongside your furnace – could be on either side of the furnace).
- Pull up & remove the “slide- type door”, located towards the bottom of the return air drop.
- You should be able to see your existing filter laying diagonally inside the return air drop.
- Remove the old filter and measure its length X width X thickness.
- Write down your existing filter size on the piece of paper.
- Also measure your return air drop. Measure the width (as you are facing the duct), and depth (outside edge) as it runs back alongside the furnace. Write down these measurements also.
- Replace the filter and door, until you have your new filters to install in your system.
- Call our office at 303-463-5911 or 303-423-1982 and give any of our Four Seasons folks the measurements and they will help you with what size and type of filters you need, take your order, and get filters shipped to you right away.
- Online, click on “Online Store”, and then on “Filtration”. You will be led through all the options available to you for increasing the efficiency and comfort of your heating and air conditioning system.
